While losing something that you own can be a very sad thing, loosing someone in your family, can be devastating. This is the way of life, and all that begins must also end. Know this can be difficult, especially when you've lost someone very close to you. Keeping your sadness inside will result in damage that cannot be undone, damage to yourself and to others around you. Building up sadness within you will damage your spirit in time, and you will lose faith in yourself. You may want to support others who share this loss with you, but you can’t do that unless you are tough enough. Loss of a loved one, might bring the surviving family closer to each other, or tear them apart. Sharing your load will help ease the pain. There is no right way to grieve. You must learn to see the reality of the situation on your own. Some find that deciding on an appropriate grave markers as beautiful as the one that passed, is a way of accepting that they are gone. Inscribing memorial tributes that you wrote yourself, which gives you solace every time you read it, that makes you feel like they're still close, is also a way of grieving.
Talking to a family member or a friend is a great way to get over the loss. But as said before, no one can tell you how to feel, you must realize it on your own. Although it is you who has to locate a way to get over the loss, you need not have to be alone. We co-exist in this world, getting support and love from others around us. It is okay to share your sadness with them too. Bring your emotions out in the open. Let people know how they can help you. Do not shun yourself out.
Coping with loss can turn out to be a positive thing to do. You can keep the memory of your loved one alive, by taking part in activities that he/she loved doing. If they liked gardens, set up a garden in your backyard. Try including solar lights to provide an everlasting glow to remember your loved one’s life. Taking care of these plants will make you feel very near to your lost one. If they supported a cause in their life, you can continue supporting it in their wake. By taking over their work, you keep them alive forever.
Finally, take care of yourself first. The person, whom you've lost, wouldn't have liked to see you grow weak. If not for you, do it for your loved one. Never resort to drugs or alcohol to forget them because sometime or other, it is a truth that you have to face. Besides, you don't have to forget them. So what if they are not with you physically? You can make them seem more alive than ever, if only you can be the person they would have been proud of.
