Knowing The Black Siberian Husky
By Andrew Preston | October 3, 2008
There are many things to learn about the Black Siberian Husky when you even just begin thinking about bringing one home. Besides their incredible good looks and their ability to be a working dog, there are many things that need to be uncovered. Many of the dogs of this breed are not completely solid in color and in fact, the Black Siberian Husky often has white markings all over the face.
And although the blue eyes are something that attracts most people to the Husky, not all of the dogs have the same blue eyes. There are many different Husky's that have amber, brown, or even a mix of two different colors, for example one eye could be blue while the other one is brown. There is no mistake, as this breed is one that will need proper attention as the thick and warm undercoat and their softer outer coat, makes for brushing to be a must.
Now beyond looks, there are more reasons why people want to bring a puppy home with them, such as knowing that this dog is excellent with small children and the elderly. But, it is their love for people that make them terrible watchdogs because of the fact that they never want to bark.
They are trusting of people and not aggressive at all. Overall, the Black Siberian Husky has a decently balanced temperament and would be a fantastic addition to anyone's home.
And it is not that the dog or breed is not trainable because they are, but they only will listen when they feel like it. All in all, this breed, even just based on their temperament, is worth every effort spent to get one into your home. Being the loving work dog that they are, it would be considered luck to have one come into your home and into your life.
The male dogs can be expected to become between forty-five and sixty pounds while the female is more in the range of thirty five to fifty pounds in weight. While this breed is generally free of a lot of health problems, they can end up with hip dysplasia and some minor eye problems.
And as far as their living arrangements, they would do best in a home that can provide them with plenty of room to run around in. If they are in an apartment, they can manage but they would need to be given many opportunities to run and exercise in order to maintain a healthy status.
If you have no choice but to live within an apartment, it is vital to make sure that the dog is taken out for walks and runs whether it is down the street or to the dog park.
