Most Golden Retrievers at the time of adoption can be expected to be around the age of two years old. It originally was trained as a sporting and hunting dog breed and therefore is very loyal and loves to follow its owner around. These dogs love to be near water at all times so it's a great idea to set them free in a pool as they enjoy swimming.
A great idea for a hot day is to be near a pool with a Golden Retriever, as they love the water and swimming! Golden Retrievers require a lot of exercise as they are a sporting breed and make good hunting dogs. They usually reach full maturity at the age of three years.
Guldens generally reach maturity at the age of three years old. Even though Golden Retrievers from a rescue or shelter tend to be lacking in manners, a loving and responsible owner can easily counterbalance its behavior problems by investing in a dog obedience school. This is an excellent way for dog and owner to bond and adjust to each other
Potential owners will be evaluated for their suitability for adopting a Golden Retriever. The dog requires sufficient exercise on a regular and daily basis and needs to be matched with a loving and active owner. Possible adopters must give a lot of thought when choosing a pet especially a Golden Retriever as it has high energy and would be a bit rough with small children.
The dog can be quite messy with plenty of shedding and drooling. However, the dog is an extremely loyal companion and will follow its owner around everywhere. Selecting a pet should never be a snap decision and if things fall apart the animal will be the real loser.
In general a Golden Retriever rescue dog is an excellent companion for an active adult and because of their size and high energy they tend to be a bit rough with children. The dog is playful, full of energy and very loyal at the same time. A Golden Retriever has a long coat and can be expected to shed at least twice a year.
The Golden Retriever has a tendency to acquire skin problems and allergies but this can be easily resolved with a high quality premium food to prevent future costly veterinarian bills. Avoid the local grocer and purchase the dog food at a good pet supply store. The dogs will also need a yearly heartworm test and monthly heartworm preventative to avoid any potential parasitical infestation.
A Golden Retriever rescue dogs are usually already housebroken. However, they tend to be messy drinkers and will drool up a storm! They tend to be an ill-fitted outdoor animal and make even lousier guard dogs. If the dog is separated from its family it tends to develop emotional and behavioral problems.
