It is a shame that so many Siberian Huskies are abandoned each year because their owners didn't pay attention to Siberian Husky information. Siberian Huskies need cool weather, suffer in heat, need a lot of exercise and do not make good guard dogs. If they do not get their exercise, they can be destructive and prone to wander.

They are often smarter than you are. The joke is that when you train a Siberian Husky a trick, they immediately argue about a much better way of doing it!

Fortunately for these noble animals, there are many good Siberian Husky rescue centres around the world, including many states in America. You really should live in a cool climate or one that gets a cold winter before adopting a Siberian Husky. You need to be very familiar with big dogs and need to make a big commitment. But a great Siberian Husky rescue centre will help match you up with the dog right for you.

Most breed-specific dog rescue places are small, casual set ups but are devoted to the welfare of the animals in their care. Some people think they are fanatics, but they have seen too many suffering animals to operate in any other way. Unlike people, animals don't commit a crime to be sentenced to death. You will never be able to take a dog home immediately after going to a Siberian Husky rescue centre or visiting one of their websites.

Adopting a Siberian Husky from a good Siberian Husky rescue centre takes time, patience and a few hundred dollars. Yes, you will be expected to give some financial compensation for your new best friend. In the past, animal shelters did let people take animals home for fee, but discovered many of those people were lying about their intentions. These animals wound up in dogfights or being sold to medical testing labs.

A good Siberian Husky rescue centre will not only have Huskies for adoption, but Husky-mixes as well. They might know the pedigree and background of their dogs or not. But they will know the dog's health, the reason why they are in the rescue shelter and the dog's likes and dislikes. The advantage of getting a dog from a breed-specific rescue group is that each dog gets the individual care and attention they need.

You will have to visit with your prospective Siberian Husky before being allowed to take him home with you. You will be expected to provide any transportation. You will also be expected to sign a contract, so read it thoroughly.

If you have any questions, the Siberian Husky rescue centre will be glad to help answer them. And the Siberian Husky rescue centres will take the dog back if you can suddenly no longer care for a dog.
