A Moving Checklist for Relocating Your Canine

When you own a pet dog, you know that it isn’t just a pet; she’s a member of the family. Since that is the case, you have to take her into consideration when it’s time to relocate. This moving checklist will review a few items that you should take care of before the move to make the process simpler.

Before the moving day, you should ensure that the prospective home will fit with your dog. If your dog is a smaller breed, this can be simpler, but you should still see if the place will be right for her. Are there larger, more aggressive dogs nearby? Are there stairs that will be hard for your dog to traverse? Smaller dogs live closer to the ground, so if she’s a house dog that goes outside to do her business, you might want to ensure the outdoor environment is relatively clean since she could pick up gunk on her belly.

With larger dogs, the cthoughts become largely about sizes. If he’s an inside dog, will there be enough space for him in your new home? Big dogs can be clumsy, so if there are a lot of tight corners, then they might get hurt or knock off knick knacks. More importantly, though, is the external space. Will there be a good environment for him to get good exercise and socialization? If you take these things into consideration, it is likely that he will become happy in his new home.

Additionally, before the move, you should make a checklist that you can stick to. This can relieve a good deal of stress since many decisions are made in advance. Your pet may or may not be used to long travel, so you might want to visit your vet and discuss the move with her. While you are there, you should see if she can give you records you need for your new vet.

If you are going to be travelling by air, you might want to hire one of the many long distance moving companies that are available so that during the trip you only need to worry about essential items, your family, and you dog. This can make a world of difference for your travel experience. If your move is within the state, say Florida, then you can hire a Florida moving company to take care of this for you. Even if you’re not going far, you would be surprised at how much simpler the process will be.

With good preparation, moving with your pet can be a pleasant experience and you will soon be happily adjusted in your new home.
